Giulia’s research interests focus on migration, bordering practices, carcerality, militarisation and the related housing struggles. During her Master’s Degree thesis project, she has been investigating the carceral spaces inside immigration detention facilities in Italy and Mexico. Thanks to a Research Fellowship, she later worked on the militarisation of higher education institutions and the nowadays tight relationship between military industries and universities. Her current PhD project focuses on the reproduction of carcerality and bordering practices for those racialised and undocumented within the urban space, exploring the subjective and affective dimensions of everyday life.
